Workers with an approved training plan are entitled to specific training benefits.

Schools and training providers can bill L&I or the self-insured employer for these training services if:

  • The worker has an L&I approved training plan that names the school.
  • The school has an L&I Training Provider account.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet general requirements to be an L&I provider, to include signing the L&I Provider Agreement.

Additional requirements (based on WAC 296-19A-500 to 590)

  • Have an admission policy or entrance requirements allowing admission to all qualified members of the general public.
  • For accredited or licensed training providers: maintain their accreditation or licensure status.  This includes being in good standing with any and all required agencies, boards, or regulatory bodies. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to report on and maintain at least a thirty percent completion rate and fifty percent placement rate in jobs for which training was provided. To do this, a school needs to be in operation for a minimum of 2 years. 
  • Providers in the state of Washington must:

(a) Possess a master business license from the Washington state department of licensing, if required.

(b) Register with the Washington state department of revenue, if required.

(c) Register with the Washington secretary of state's office if required.

(d) Comply with local ordinances governing businesses within the city or county where they will operate.

  • Training providers providing services outside the state of Washington must comply with all regulatory requirements and local ordinances within the state, city and county where they will operate.
  • For non-accredited or unlicensed training providers: Complete the supplemental application and agree to reapply every two years.

  • Start your ProviderOne application to apply for a provider account.
  • Upload all necessary documents before submitting your application.
    • Licensed or accredited schools: Provide documentation of the school’s licensing or accreditation status.
    • Unlicensed or non-accredited schools: Complete a Supplemental Application (F280-045-000).
  • Return to your application or check status.
    • Go to ProviderOne.
    • Enter your Application ID and either your Social Security Number (SSN) or your Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN, which is also called an EIN or Tax ID).
